Artist Biography
An RAF World War II squadron leader, Irving was a talented artist, Hollywood set designer, book illustrator and art director. During his time in Hollywood he worked with Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks and Charlie Chaplin. His paintings, mostly landscapes and street views, are painted out of personal satisfaction rather than commercial reasons or pursuing critical artistic acclaim. His body of work is a small collection of paintings that consequently rarely come up for public sale. They are characterised by painstaking detail, soft use of light and all of which were places Irving personally travelled to and was inspired by.
