Fine large 18th Century English study of a cockerel in a farmyard, oil on canvas. Superb quality and rare early farm bird study in excellent original and unrestored condition. Most likely to be by Sartorius who also painted a 1777 fighting cock called "Dauntless" owned by George Wyndham, Earl of Egremont that is distinctly similar in style and composition to this work and this study may be another of the Earls prized birds. Framed later with an incorrect plaque.
