Large 18th Century English portrait of Lady Caroline Howard, oil on canvas. Excellent quality and condition study of young Lady Howard, daughter of Frederick Howard, Earl Of Carlisle wearing a large white headdress and black cape. Presented in an antique gilt frame. The work is variation of a work Frederick Howard commissioned to Reynolds in 1778 and hung in Castle Howard. Reynolds oeuvre is noted for producing numerous preliminary works and as well as later versions of popular portraits.
