Large 19th Century English Civil War scene of the Sequestration of Alexander Leslie, 1st Earl Of Leven, oil on canvas by Edgar Bundy. Excellent quality and condition example of the artist English Civil War history paintings. The scene depicts the arrest of the dejected Leslie, with his distinct blond hair and white court attire, by Cromwells men after the Battle Of Dunbar and the subsequent dispossession of his estate and assets before imprisonment at the Tower Of London. Singed and presented in a good period frame.

Artist Biography
Bundy taught himself to paint. He became a member of the Royal Institute and the Royal Society of British Artists in 1891. He exhibited his work at the Royal Academy, Suffolk Street and the New Water-Colour Society in London from 1881. He also exhibited works, including some history scenes, at the Salon des Artistes Franais, where he received a second-class medal in 1909. He was commissioned to paint The Landings of the Canadians in France, 1915, for the Canadian War Memorial.
