Large 1899 portrait of William Burdon-Muller, oil on canvas by Henry Harris Brown. Full length portrait of Muller, a successful merchant from Santiago, Chile who also resided in Hillside, Green Street, London. Depicted in the artists studio wearing a cream suit, white waistcoat, red necktie and a panama hat with a red drape beyond. Superb example of the artists work, signed and framed. The work is new to the market having been with the family since it was first painted by commission.

The Burdon-Muller family moved to Chile in the early 19th century and were successful merchants based in Santiago. The family later split moved to London and Boston, USA. The family were keen art collectors with many notable works donated to Boston Fine Arts Museum and the Harvard Collection.
